One of the more common conditions I see in my office is Migraine Headaches. 1 in 7 people in the WORLD suffer from Migraines. That’s 1 in 5 women and 1 out of every 15 men in the United States. After dental cavities and tension headaches, migraines are ranked third on the list of the most common health conditions. On top of that, they are the sixth most disabling illness. In addition, recurring migraines affect 18% of women, 6% of men, and 10% of children. This means you’ll find someone with this condition in one out of every four US households. What baffles me is that with this being such a huge health problem, why don’t more people know that there is HOPE! Where is this hope you ask? The answer may shock you! According to studies, 92% of Migraine patients can find some relief by visiting an Upper Cervical Chiropractor.

Most people think all Chiropractors are the same. Over the 125 years of Chiropractic history, there are well over 200 known Chiropractic techniques. The majority of them address the entire spine, but a handful of them focus heavily on the upper two bones in the neck, otherwise known as the “upper cervical’ spine. These two bones are unique for many reasons, but most importantly, they are the most freely moveable and, therefore, the most frequently misaligned. They are also the only vertebrae that protect the delicate brain stem, which is basically “Houston Control” for your body.

When one of these two vertebrae misalign and stop moving properly, this causes a major neurological interference at the Brainstem level that can lead to a number of health issues, including Migraine Headaches. The pressure on the brain stem can also lead to abnormal hydrodynamics (fluid flow) in and out of the cranium which negatively affects blood flow and cerebral spinal fluid flow. Chiropractors call this neurological interference an Upper Cervical Subluxation.

The Upper Cervical Chiropractor’s job is merely to find the misalignment and adjust it in order to remove the interference and restore normal nerve supply. The proper nerve supply typically restores normal hydrodynamics in and out of the skull, which in turn will help Migraine sufferers get the relief they so desperately need.

So, if you, or someone you know, are one of the many people out there still living with these debilitating headaches, I want you to know that there is still HOPE! Even if you’ve already tried the typical full spine chiropractor, an Upper Cervical Chiropractor might just change your LIFE!
